5 Weeks Old

Eddie was 5 weeks old yesterday and we had quite the eventful day. On our way to the pediatrician I needed to stop by the bookstore. When we went to leave, my wonderful plum car would not start. Nothing like a hot day, an unhappy baby and a broken car. Luckily Dan was able to come to the rescue and got the car started again. Only catch was that I couldn't shut it off until I knew I wouldn't need to drive anywhere:)
So we made it to the pediatrician an hour late, and left the car out front running the whole time! Eddie now weighs 11 1/2 lbs and is in the 95th percentile. We said goodbye to Eddie's newborn clothes a few weeks ago and over the past week I have found that most of his 0-3 months don't fit as well, or they look like what I would call muscle onsies on him:)
But the highlight of the day was going to the zoo! So it may have been for my benefit and pleasure more than Eddie's but I think he thoroughly enjoyed riding in his stroller. He was awake for most of the trip, so he slept wonderfully last night and most of today as well. Dan was not able to go, but we went with Dan's sisters and their kids. A total of 5 adults and 11 children. It was quite the herd to keep together but we all had a blast!

4 Weeks Old

Eddie is 4 weeks old today. I can't believe it has been a month. The last week has been full of several firsts for Eddie. Last weekend we went to visit my parents in Montana. It is a 6 1/2 hour drive each way. He did so good for the most part. Got a little upset towards the end but who can blame him after being in his carseat for hours. While in Montana Eddie also saw his first movie, Transformers 3. Dan and I timed it out so he had a bottle during the previews, then we prayed he would sleep the rest of the time. And he did! He is such a good baby for sleeping through a loud, action packed almost 3 hour long movie:) I don't know that i really got to enjoy it though because I was so worried the whole time that he would wake up.
Eddie also had his first 4th of July. We had just gotten back from Montana so we spent the 4th with our neighbors here in the culdesac eating good food and watching the neighbors light fireworks. Here in Utah it was the first year that aerial fireworks were not outlawed. He did pretty good with the loud noises but had been pretty fussy so we had an early night.
Just within the last week Eddie has decided he doesn't like to sleep and likes to cry and fuss for a few hours in the evening. I can't wait until he grows out of this stage. I've been lucky the past few days if I can get a shower in each day. And even then i end up covered in baby puke shortly after:) Thank goodness Dan is such a great help in the evenings. Sometimes I think Eddie just wants to hang out with his Dad. They grow so fast:)

2 Week Update

Eddie had his 2 weeks pediatrician appointment today. For the most part, they are mainly checking to make sure the baby is back to its birth weight. Eddie was 8 lbs 2 oz when he was born, and 7 lbs 12 oz when he left the hospital. Today, 10 days later he weighs 8 lbs 15 oz! The doctor was shocked. People don't believe me when I tell them he eats every hour and a half to two hours. Now they will since he put on over a pound in 10 days. My little chunky dunker! As for head size, weight and length (he is an inch and a half longer now too) he is in the 75th percentile. Dan may have his sports star after all:)

Meet Edward Michael Cardall

Edward Michael Cardall was born on a sun shining, Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 7:55pm. Weighing 8 lbs 2 oz, 20 1/2 inches long. He was born in the McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. He is completely healthy and so is mom.
Eddie was named after his Dan's great grandpa Edward Cardall, and his grandpa Gordon Edward Cardall, as well as my dad Michael Lee Mergenthaler, my brother Cole Michael Mergenthaler and Dan's brother Michael Ames Cardall.
We came home from the hospital on Saturday. At discharge, Eddie weighed 7 lbs 10 oz. After his first visit to the pediatrician yesterday he has gained 2 oz. He seems to be a healthy, growing boy. Just likes to eat all the time, sleep and poop!
Dan and I are having so much fun being parents. It is such a new experience but one we were ready for. It's amazing how much we can already love this little spirit we just met a few days ago. I find it funny to feel how Eddie moves in my arms and realize that just a few days ago I was feeling those same movements, but in my tummy and turned 180 degrees:)
The first week is almost over and I find myself clinging to every moment. Never again will we have the experiences of a first child. It has been wonderful and I know will only get better. We look forward to all the great things our Eddie will do!

We Are Having A Baby Today!

It is just past 8am this morning and I am anxiously awaiting Dan to get home from work so we can head to McKay Dee. My induction appointment is at 9am, so we are hoping to have Eddie here by tonight, however the sooner the better. I would not have slept a wink last night had it not been for the sleeping pill I took that sent me to dreamland!
It is really crazy to think that after today I will be a parent. Dan feels the same way. Even though he doesn't vocalize it, he has been a mess the past couple of weeks. Its been fun for me to watch him get so worked up, when he is normally so calm and collected:)
So here is to a healthy baby...wish us luck!!!

Officially Past My Due Date

My due date of June 4th has come and gone. However this does not surprise me. We are late to everything...it's a Cardall thing:) So sad that Eddie is not here yet, but it was nice to enjoy one more weekend with just Dan and I. We were also able to go to our nephew Caden's baptism Saturday which I am glad we didn't miss.
I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow night to see if things have progressed any further from last Wednesday when I was still at a 3. It sounds like we will for sure be inducing if Eddie has not arrived by Thursday. I can't wait to meet our little man!
